Chicago, IL–Hymn-writing collective Restoration Project is now ten days away from the end of a fundraising campaign which began on August 9 to raise $10,000 in 30 days. Donations made through the all-or-nothing crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com will be used to create the group’s “Firm Foundation” Sunday School hymns EP series. Visit their campaign page at: resproj.com/k.
In just 20 days, Restoration Project has raised over $4,200, receiving contributions from over 60 donors. “Firm Foundation,” will be a collection of classic Sunday School and American Christian folk songs approached in a fresh way. Songs such as “This Little Light of Mine,” “Jesus Loves Me,” and “My God is So Big,” will possess greater theological depth and clarity and a modern musical feel. So far, over twenty people from over seven, different churches in four states have been involved in the series’ pre-production and songwriting.
Restoration Project’s Firm Foundation EP Series Kickstarter campaign ends at 12:50 AM, CDT, on September 8, 2013.
About Restoration Project
Restoration Project started in 2007 as a ministry of College Church in Wheaton, Illinois, under the direction of then College Pastor Jay Thomas. Today, the Project’s core consists of a handful of volunteer songwriters and musicians from all over the country (many live in Chicago) who are dedicated to writing new hymns and restoring the old by taking historical texts and poems and writing new melodies and music for them. Restoration Project believes that there is “an outstanding, historic catalog of beautiful Christian texts that most of the Church will never hear sung in their lifetimes.” Restoration Project aims to revitalize these texts so that they can “glorify God, edify the church, and share Jesus” with those around them. Restoration Project has already produced two albums: “Restoration Project” (2008) and “Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope” (2011). The group also regularly leads hymn-sing events in the greater Chicago area. View their upcoming event schedule: http://resproj.com/tour.
